| Ursula's Italian Cakes and Desserts Ursula Ferrigno - Metro - ISBN 1-900512-27-0This is a book for those of us who have a sweet tooth, full of cakes and desserts, definitely not for any weight watchers. As you would expect any book about Italian cuisine there is a reasonable amount of alcohol in many of the recipes, this is an observation not a criticism. Although please feel fee to make your conclusion about your reviewers taste by looking at his selection form the book, which is appended below. First. Zuppa Inglese this is on page 33 and is not really a soup but an Italian version of that old traditional British favourite sherry trifle, but with several distinct and subtle differences including the use of marsala instead of sherry Second. Zeppole this is on page 69 and is honey and spice twists an Italian speciality traditionally eaten on Christmas Eve. Third. Minni di Santa Agatha on page 75 these are baked sweet pastries made from a sweet pasta dough. Fourth. Cassata Siciliana on page 115 a cheese and sponge cake that needs to be made a day ahead, does need some Amaretto Lastly not really a dessert or cake but I rather liked the sound of this. Nocino a green walnut liqueur, which is vodka based and once made has to left for 10 days before drinking! Ah well we have to suffer in the name of research, this you will find on page 191.

Page 50 Caponata Alla Marinara a fisherman's dish which uses biscuits with olive oil, garlic, black olives, anchovies, origano and basil Page 79 Gnocchi di Riocotta, this is a cream cheese version of gnocchi.
